KY Outstanding Apprentice Nominated
Congratulations to Patrick Stinson, Apprentice at the City of Munfordville. Patrick has been nominated and recognized by the National Rural Water Association (NRWA) as a 2022 Outstanding Apprentice! Patrick was enrolled as a Water Systems Operations Specialist apprentice in November of 2020. He has never had to be reminded to log his OJT hours, and has consistently garnered praise from his mentor on performance evaluations.
Patrick has earned 4 course completion certificates from Sacramento State: Distribution System Operations & Maintenance, Small Systems Operations & Maintenance, and Wastewater Treatment Plant Operations Vol. 1 and Vol. 2. Patrick was also the recipient of a $1,000 RTI scholarship from Hawkins Water Treatment Group. In Kentucky, an operator is typically eligible to take the Class II Operators exam after a full two years of on-the-job training.
Patrick earned his Class II Distribution Operator License in 15 months because he had the initiative to complete coursework that allowed for educational substitution. At 19 years of age, Patrick is one of the youngest certified operators in the state of Kentucky. Patrick is on track to graduate the apprenticeship by the end of 2022.
