2023 National Apprenticeship Week is Coming Up!
National Apprenticeship Week (NAW) is a nationwide celebration established by the U.S. Department of Labor where employers, industry associations, labor organizations, community- based organizations, workforce partners, education providers, and government leaders host events to showcase and promote high-quality, inclusive, in-demand career pathway opportunities through Registered Apprenticeship.
KRWA’s apprenticeship program started in the fall of 2019 and offers two occupations: Water Systems Operations Specialist & Wastewater Systems Operations Specialist.
The program requires 4,000 hours of On-the-Job Training (approximately 2 years) and 288 hours of Related Technical Instruction. Apprentices are assigned a qualified mentor for the duration of the program, and receive a well rounded technical education. Completion of the KRWA Apprenticeship Program results in at least one water or wastewater operator certification and a nationally recognized Registered Apprenticeship credential from the U.S. Department of Labor.
