AUTOMOTIVE PARTS / TITLE CLERK

Supervisor:    Fleet Maintenance/Solid Waste Superintendent

Supervises:    None  

Grade:           Starting at $15.308 per hour

Class Characteristics:   Under general supervision, maintains inventory of spare parts, materials, and tools for the division and prepares and maintains records for all equipment; performs related work as required.

General Duties and Responsibilities:   Maintains computer and physical inventory of spare parts, materials, tools and fuel/oil for the division.  Maintains part catalogs on lists for equipment required for use in division operations.  Stores all stock items in correct location and assigns locations to new items and parts.  Distributes parts, materials and supplies to employees.  Issues purchase orders, checks for correct quantity and serviceability, and posts receipts.  Processes work orders to charge departments for services performed.  Prepares and maintains proper files, documentation, and periodic reports needed.  Obtains proper registration titles and tags for city owned vehicles and equipment.  Assists with preparation and sale of surplus vehicles and equipment.  Dispatches phone calls to solid waste and animal control employees.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Training and Experience:  Graduation from high school or equivalent supplemented by supplemented by five (5) years parts clerk experience and two (2) years’ experience with fleet management computer programs.

Certification and Licensing Requirements:  Must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license as a condition of continued employment in this class.

Availability:  Must be available on nights and weekends in addition to normal business hours.

Overtime Provision:  Non‑exempt.
