POSITION DESCRIPTION: CLASS TITLE: Class III or IV Water Treatment Plant Operator
JOB SUMMARY:
Water plant operator works under the direct supervision of the superintendent or other class IV operators monitoring plant operations performing charting, testing, chemical feed adjustments, maintenance on various mechanical aspects of the treatment operation. Facility maintenance and grounds keeping.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Class III or IV licensed operator preferred however the City of Paris offers an excellent training program for the right person.
Ability to work all shifts, weekends, and holidays.
Excellent mathematical skills
Self-motivated
High School diploma or equivalent
Valid KY Driver’s license
Ability to acquire appropriate certification as issued by the Commonwealth of Kentucky.
Special Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Some knowledge of the processes involved in the purification of water is helpful but not required. Appreciation of the techniques and benefits of preventive maintenance. Ability to quantify amounts registered on meters and charts accurately and to maintain records of shift operations. Ability to understand and to follow oral and written instructions. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with superiors and associates. Alertness. Dependability. Initiative. Sound judgment. Integrity.
Physical criteria include:
- The ability to lift 50 pounds regularly
- The ability to see and respond to dangerous situations
- The ability to safely climb ladders
- The ability to work in extreme weather
