DCA Certification and Renewal Update

As we continue to work through the Corona Virus response, the Division of Compliance Assistance (DCA) is working to resume training and testing services to operators while still being protective of operator and employee health. We appreciate your patience. Below is an update of what we are doing/planning in the near future. As many of these processes are new and untried, please note that schedules and formats may change as we learn what works, what doesn’t, and what operators need or prefer.

  • Renewal Deadline: The Cabinet has extended the license renewal late fee waiver through Sept. 30th to allow more time for operators to obtain hours without monetary penalty.
  • Online Training: As indoor, group activities such as our training courses still carry risk, the division anticipates offering online education services through the remainder of 2020. A decision on how to proceed in 2021 will be made later in the year.
  • New Training Schedule: DCA is taking classroom education online. Because the division is designing this to be on-demand, a new class schedule will not be issued for the rest of the year. However, the division may offer live, online events as time allows. We will announce those through the website, blog, and other methods.
  • CEU Class Enrollees: DCA is providing CEU hours to those that were scheduled for classes prior to shut down. DCA started offering CEUs in July and the division is currently testing its systems. For those who were not registered for CEU courses in March, but are interested in online options, we will open registration for CEUs in late August if testing is successful.
  • Testing: DCA has resumed operator exams. Be aware that our ability to test in large numbers is limited. Please be patient as there is a backlog of people who were scheduled to test prior to shutting down. We will be opening up registration for testing in September for people who were not scheduled prior to April. Because of space availability, staffing, and travel issues, many of these testing events will be in Frankfort. We will have testing at other locations as scheduling allows.

Once again, thanks for your continued patience as we alter operations to protect the health of those conducting and participating in our services. If you have any questions you can contact us at envhelp@ky.gov.
