The City of Ashland is accepting applications for the position of ENGINEERING SUPERINTENDENT
Engineering Department
Supervisor: City Engineer
Grade: 113
Salary Range: $65K to $70K commensurate with experience and qualifications.
Class Characteristics: Under general administrative direction, responsible for all aspects of the Engineering division and City ordinance compliance; performs paraprofessional engineering tasks; and manages all Division interaction within the Department.
General Duties and Responsibilities: Plans, organizes, directs, coordinates, and evaluates all activities of the division. Manages the erosion control, building permit, and major/minor subdivision review processes for the division. Reviews submitted applications for the Board of Zoning Adjustment, Ashland Planning Commission, and Board of Commissioners. Manages and monitors the professional development of all division employees. Performs engineering design calculations. Develops engineering design plans and specifications. Plans City infrastructure projects utilizing other departmental personnel for new construction. Assists in long-range capital planning and preparation of the division’s annual budget. Provides technical and operational assistance to supervisors and superintendents on construction projects executed by City Engineer Public Services & Utility Operations employees and contractors. Ensures that proper materials, engineering techniques, and procedures are utilized. Provides variety of paraprofessional engineering services for other departments of City government. Selects and makes recommendations for hiring and promotion of division personnel. Attends senior staff professional development courses or training as required. Assists with other engineering projects as necessary. Performs other related duties as assigned.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Training and Experience: Graduation from high school or equivalent, including or plus additional work-related courses supplemented by five (5) years directly related work experience. Bachelor’s or Associate’s degree in Civil Engineering required.
Certification/Licensing Requirements: Must obtain and possess all certifications/training required for Senior Engineering/Storm water Coordinator, Engineering Assistant/Storm Water Inspector and Engineering Technician and possess and maintain a current certification for National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (NPDES), Erosion Protection and Sediment Control. Must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license as a condition of continued employment in this class. Complete salary range: $61,642.00-$108, 825.00
