Maintenance Technician for City of Ashland
The City of Ashland is accepting applications for the position of MAINTENANCE TECHNICIAN Utilities Department, Water Production Division
Supervisor: Water Plant Superintendent
Supervises: Division employees assigned to Maintenance by Superintendent
Grade: 10 Beginning Pay: $27.060-$37.880
Class Characteristics: Under general direction, assists in providing maintenance, including replacements, repairs, and preventive maintenance for the plant and equipment.
General Duties and Responsibilities: Repairs and replaces equipment, pumps, motors, and other items at the division plant. Schedules routine maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair. Performs preventive maintenance activities in compliance with program. Repairs or replaces hydraulic systems on equipment. Assists in maintaining inventory of spare parts, tools, materials, equipment, and supplies. Orders service calls from outside vendors after approval of superintendent. Inspects and approves work performed by private contractors. Assumes responsibility for the division in the absence of a higher authority at times. Prepares and maintains required records and reports and forwards reports to appropriate agencies. Participates in continuing education programs. Assists with maintenance of cleanliness of plant and grounds. Directs division employees assigned to maintenance.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Training and Experience: Graduation from high school or equivalent supplemented by work experience and education acceptable by the Kentucky Energy and Environment Cabinet to have received a Class IV Water Treatment Plant Operators License.
Certification/Licensing Requirements: Must possess and maintain a Class IV Water Treatment Plant Operators License and valid driver’s license issued by the Commonwealth of Kentucky as a condition of continued employment in this class.
Availability Requirement: Must be able to respond to calls in emergency situations at all hours.
