MAINTENANCE WORKER I, II, OR III (FLOODWALL)*
The City of Ashland is accepting applications for the position of MAINTENANCE WORKER I, II, OR III (FLOODWALL)
Public Services Department / Streets Division/ Floodwall
Supervisor: Streets Supervisor or Crew Leader
Starting Pay Range: $ $15.210- $19.030
Class Characteristics: Under general supervision, performs skilled, semi-skilled and manual labor activities in the construction, maintenance and cleanliness of City property.
General Duties and Responsibilities: Assists in the construction, maintenance and cleanliness of equipment and facilities. Maintains lawn care and outdoor facilities. Assists with minor repairs. Assists with maintenance duties related to the division. Performs preventative maintenance in agreement with policies and procedures. Cleans and properly stores tools and equipment after use. Provides support during inclement weather. Prepares and maintains accurate records and reports. Ensures compliance with health and safety regulations regarding equipment, facilities, or other related City property. Patrols areas looking for damage or problems with City property that need to be addressed. Works on special projects as assigned. In addition to above, MW III performs specialized skill work to maintain City facilities and property and accepts projects, determines needed materials, and plans and organizes project. All levels perform other related duties as assigned.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Training and Experience: No previous education or work experience required for MWI. Must obtain high school diploma or equivalent for higher class, supplemented by three (3) years directly related work experience for MWII, and five (5) years directly related work experience for MWIII.
Certification/Licensing Requirements: Must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license. Appointment to Maintenance Worker II considered after three (3) years of directly related work experience, subject to recommendation of the Department Director and approval of the City Manager.
Overtime Provision: Non-exempt.
Availability Requirement: Must be able to respond to calls in emergency situations at all hours.
