Zenner's Ultimate Meter Challenge at KRWA's 2024 Annual Conference & Exhibition
When & Where
Practice and preliminary competition for Zenner's Ultimate Meter Challenge will be held in the exhibit hall. The top 8 qualifiers will then compete during the Tuesday Evening Member Appreciation Reception.
Competition Details
This competition tests and measures individuals on how quickly, accurately, and completely they can assemble a working water meter. Competitors will assemble the meter according to a provided diagram, the meter will be tested for leaks, and then disassembled to ensure it was properly assembled with no missing parts.
To accommodate many competitors, Zenner will conduct a single-elimination tournament. In this format, the loser of each match-up is immediately eliminated, while each winner progresses to the next round until the final match-up, whose winner will be crowned the tournament champion.
Competitors are required to completely assemble a water meter commonly used by water utilities for residential customers. The faster build with zero leaks in each match-up will be the winner and move on to the next bracket.
When registering in advance, each competitor will receive a meter kit prior to the event. This kit will contain a completely disassembled meter and additional random parts, which may or may not be related to the meter. Each kit will have the same extra parts to ensure that competitors are thoroughly familiar with all parts of the meter they are assembling.

Rules
- The contest is open to Annual Conference attendees who own or work at a utility (i.e., cities, municipalities, water districts, etc.) or State Rural Water Association employees (i.e., Circuit Riders, Energy Efficiency Technicians, etc.).
- NRWA Employees, NRWA National Board Members, as well as their immediate family (spouse, parents, siblings, and children) and household members, are not eligible to enter.
- Entrants MUST be present in person at KRWA's 2024 Annual Conference & Exhibition to compete in the Ultimate Meter Challenge.
